Austria’s Logistics Research Competence

LRA – Logistics Research Austria is the leading research platform and cooperation initiative of Austrian universities, universities of applied sciences, and non-university institutions. We pool interdisciplinary expertise in logistics, supply chain management, and mobility to connect research, development, and application at their intersection. The goal: to make the entire value chain more efficient, sustainable, and intelligent.

Our Core Competencies and Research Focus Areas

LRA brings together expert knowledge across all facets of logistics. Our research and development activities focus in particular on:

Distributed logistics systems: Optimization of transport (road, rail, water, air) and intralogistics (in-plant material flows).
Goods and material flow processes: Intelligent solutions for warehouse and production logistics.
Technology adoption and development: Research and deployment of future-oriented technological innovations such as advanced transport units and innovative transport techniques (e.g., via automation, sensors, AI).
