autoSHUNTING
Experimental development for highly automated shunting in rail freight transport
About the Project
Efficient operation in a marshalling yard and during fine distribution (shunting) is of crucial importance for the future development of rail freight transport, particularly for single wagonload traffic. Operations must be fast, safe, and as cost-effective as possible. In addition to technical implementation under the required safety standards and compliance with worker protection regulations, economic viability is a major concern. The interaction of necessary automation steps within the overall process and their feasibility from an economic standpoint is also addressed. This includes the potential integration and impact of automated coupling processes, autonomous freight vehicles, and automated brake testing.
