The research group "Railway Automation and Traffic Telematics" has been working on topics related to railway automation and traffic telematics in public transport since 1999. Research topics include:
- Automation in rail freight transport
- Use of the Digital Automatic Coupler (DAC) in rail freight transport
- Automated shunting movements and last-mile operation
- Modern safety systems for regional railways
