Der Schwerpunkt der Arbeitsgruppen von Karl Dörner und Jan Ehmke liegt in der Entwicklung von intelligenten Planungsmethoden und Optimierungsverfahren unter Verwendung von Operations-Research-Techniken in Kombination mit Verfahren der künstlichen Intelligenz.
The focus of the research groups led by Karl Dörner and Jan Ehmke lies in the development of intelligent planning methods and optimization procedures using operations research techniques in combination with artificial intelligence methods.
Karl Dörner’s group has many years of experience in the area of metaheuristics and matheuristics. Existing approaches are being fundamentally expanded and redesigned due to new technologies, enabling the integration of real-time data into planning and optimization algorithms.
Jan Ehmke’s group focuses on integrating large-scale data sets into operations research methods through artificial intelligence techniques. To this end, dynamic and stochastic planning procedures are being further developed to examine planning goals such as reliability and environmental sustainability.
The application areas addressed by the groups range from classical problems in production, mobility, and logistics (vehicle routing, scheduling, lot sizing) to integrated and combined problems (production routing, scheduling routing, inventory routing):
