About the Project

The aim of the HOPL project is to develop innovative optimization algorithms to unlock additional efficiency potential through holistic modeling and optimization of interdependent subprocesses in production and logistics. Special emphasis is placed on:
- Realistic modeling: Many models are too abstract and omit key system properties; HOPL aims to close this gap to enable the practical transfer of optimized solutions.
- Optimization networks: Combining generic problem descriptions, simulation, and both exact and heuristic methods into interacting networks.
- Integrated focus areas, in particular:
-- Storage, transport, and sequencing optimization
-- Strategic design and planning of production and logistics systems
-- Integration of data-driven model development into the optimization of production systems
