About the Project
Although rail transport is technically better suited for automation than road transport, its development lags behind. Especially on secondary lines, the main obstacle for automated/autonomous self-propelled freight wagons (SPW) is not the lack of technology, but the absence of regulations that allow such systems to be approved for operation. The aim of the SARI30-Lumberjack project is, through a demonstrator, to go beyond proving technical feasibility and work toward the development of a regulatory framework and approval basis for such systems.
